Rev. Troy Perry

Rev. Troy Perry is the Founder/Moderator of the Metropolitan Community Church, the largest GLBT church worldwide. In 1968, as an openly gay clergyman, he founded the Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan Community Churches (UFMCC) with 12 people. Today, the church community has more than 44,000 members in over 300 congregations in 17 countries around the world. The UFMCC is the first church to recognize the necessity of ministering to the needs of gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transgender persons.

Rev. Perry has spoken on issues of GLBT spirituality and the civil rights movement on 60 Minutes, Nightline, Dateline, PBS and other regional and national media.

Rev. Perry sits on the Los Angeles County Commission on Human Relations. In 1978, he received the Humanitarian Award from the American Civil Liberties Union.
